Having spent 12 years playing NZ and international professional rugby, Hamish brings to Xigo a raft of transferable skills as well as engineering and business finance qualifications
A demonstration of Hamish’s ability to multi-task is clearly seen by his decision several years ago to combine his full-time pro rugby responsibilities with completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree (Canterbury Unit – 1st Class Honours). He then topped this with a Graduate Diploma in Business (Finance). As part of his practical requirement for his engineering degree, Hamish worked for Mercury Bay Civil Design Ltd, where he has picked up some hands-on experience of site testing, structural design and on-site structural checks.
Hamish has lived and worked in Japan, France, the UK and NZ, most recently in Tokyo Japan where he played professional rugby for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. His pro rugby career also includes stints playing for Atlantique State Rochelle’s (La Rochelle), Montpellier, NTT DoCoMo (Osaka) and the Crusaders.
