Waikato businessman Alan Herbert established Smartrak in 2006 with the vision of building a superior GPS fleet management system. With the help of a small group of bright University of Waikato graduates, the enthusiastic team went on to pave the way within the telematics industry.
Ten years into the journey, Smartrak continues to lead the way with our award-winning location-based solutions that connect people with information so that distance doesn’t matter.
Smartrak’s fleet management and safety location-based solutions are used in more than 23,000 assets, across 300 plus private, government and emergency services across Australasia. The Smartrak solution now also supports the public transport and bulk liquid transportation sectors.
With the expansion of Smartrak, there was a need to move to new premises to combine the whole team into one office. Smartrak was located at Waikato Innovation Park when a new tenancy space came available which met the needs and drivers of Smartrak Management.
Smartrak engaged Yellow6 to develop a fitout design that was innovative and incorporated the culture of Smartrak. The design needed to be modern and creative that combined the branding of Smartrak
Xigo was engaged to manage the project from conception through all design, Building Consent planning the staging of the works and managing the construction phase. This included liaising and management of multiple stakeholders and careful consideration of operational aspects as Smartrak needed to remain functioning during the fitout.
Xigo procured a contractor through competitive tendering. Xigo developed a bespoke contract and preliminary and general for the Smartrak Project that captured all the clients’ requirements.
Xigo facilitated Value Engineering to align the brief with the budget, this was completed prior to the works and was a focus during the build process. With these in mind, Xigo delivered the project under budget.
