Opened in 2004, the Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Clinical Education Centre is a magnificent education facility in the heart of the Auckland City Hospital. The centre's primary focus is clinical education and training. With an elegant spacious interior, the CEC is a leading conferencing facility in Auckland, which includes highly specified IT/Conferencing equipment enabling remote presenter, multi room presentations, and webinars.
The facility comprises:
• Two auditoriums (1 x 205 seats) (1 x 100 seats)
• Eight function rooms (2 x 50 seats) (2 x 20 seats) (2 x 10 seats)
• The Davis Room (16 seats) available for quiet reading, research and study
• A trade and display area (12 stands)
• Gathering area for refreshments and catering
• State of the art audiovisual equipment
Employed by ADHB, Xigo managed the project from conception to opening, commencing with appointment of the design consultants, completion of the design, consent, tender and construction administration.
This project was funded principally via a substantial contribution from Fisher and Paykel, but also through charitable donations of equipment and 'in kind' expertise. Regular updates and communications with these parties throughout the project was required to keep them involved.
The Clinical Education centre invested in state of the art Multimedia and lighting to enable a wider range of presentation, including live streaming webinars, live audio visual feeds from operating theatres elsewhere on site, multi room conferencing, video conferencing and high definition projection.
The 210 seat auditorium and ancillary space centre was constructed inside the existing hospital facility, and was complete on time in 2004 and under the $1.5M construction budget.
