Client: Bupa Care Services Limited
Timeframe: Completed 2015
Total value: $31m

Components: Refurbishment and upgrade of an existing 80 bed hospital and construction of 63, one and two bedroom apartments

Project description:

Sunset retirement village was approached in two stages. The first was refurbishment and upgrade of infrastructure and services for the 80 bed hospital including new dementia and hospital care wings.

A full decanting analysis was pivotal to finalising and agreeing the staging of all works. Careful consideration was given to operational aspects, staffing activities and revenue streams. These were under pined by necessity to provide a continuity of care for both hospital and dementia residents whilst at the same time minimising disruptions and offering continuity of experience for residents and their visitors.

The two existing Hospital Wings were linked by new Lounges and Nurse Stations providing better operational efficiency.

Stage two was the construction of a purpose built 63, one and two bedroom apartment complex.

The development offers apartment residents a number of recreational facilities including a gymnasium, library, theatre and hairdressing salon. The development sits within a large landscaped greenspace that allows resident and visitor enjoyment.
