Project description:

This project is one component of the overall Building Programme at Waikato Hospital for which Xigo has actively been involved through all stages. The facility provides 113 beds for Older Persons Rehabilitation Services. Part of the facility includes a secure ward, which although not providing the same level of security as the Forensic Mental Health Unit, was designed with the special needs of patients and staff.

The design takes full advantage of views across the Hamilton Lake and provides a bridge link across a public road to assist with patent transfers to the main hospital site.
The project was delivered to satisfy the overall sequencing and migration requirements of the overall campus development.

Our role

Malcolm Sabourin provided Project Management services though the design and implementation phase for this project with John Isherwood undertaking building services design review. To satisfy the overall objectives of the project specific Conditions of Contract were developed. Hawkins Construction being successful through a competitive tender process satisfying the District Health Boards procurement and probity requirements.
