Project description:

Porirua City Council engaged Xigo (formerly Mallard Cooke) as their Project Manager and Quantity Surveyors in 2005 to develop a new four court indoor stadium.  The Brief required:

  • Four national competition level netball/basketball courts
  • Three side by side courts in one building plus a training court in an adjacent hall
  • Seating for 2,000 spectators in a combination of fixed and removable format
  • The ability to hold events such as concerts, trade shows, banquets to a capacity of 3,000 seated
  • Space for a fitness gymnasium
  • Multi-function space for community activities
  • An 80-seat theatrette
  • Two 20-person meeting rooms
  • All associated public spaces and facilities such as changing rooms
  • Administration offices for up to 12 staff

Our role

Xigo provided a full Project and Cost Management service including:

  • Master planning
  • High level risk management
  • Design management from concept to detailed/construction design
  • Pre-construction administration
  • Procurement strategy, main contractor procurement
  • Main contract administration
  • Engineer to the Contract
  • Internal and external stakeholder consultation and communications
  • Commissioning, training, project handover and warranty management
